4th of July Nails 2015
Hello lovely readers, and Happy 4th of July! I hope those of you in the U.S. have a great day planned to celebrate Independence Day. My family has a VERY busy day planned. Lots of visiting, barbeques and fireworks. I can’t wait!
So, I have to admit that I had a little trouble with these. I started with a completely different idea and as I continued to fail at executing what was in my head, I wound up here with these nails. It took HOURS! lol
For this, I used “Freya’s Cats” by Picture Polish as a base on my thumb and pinkie then sponged on the stars with Zoya “Purity” and some fabulous “Stuck on Love Nail Vinyls” in the “Stars” pattern I bought from Love, Angeline.
“Freya’s Cats” is probably one of my favorite polishes in my collection. It is a vibrant blue with all this gorgeous shimmer that isn’t glitter. So beautiful! I used 2 coats here. The nail vinyls were really fun. I did have to pick out the little stars from the sheet with tweezers before peeling off the stencil and applying it to my nails, but I didn’t mind. The payoff was perfect! I sponged on the white polish in two coats and the stars were crisp and white… exactly what I wanted!
The other three fingers… not exactly what I had in mind, but I like the final result anyway.
Originally, I wanted to stamp some white stripes on a red base. Well, the white stripes came out too heavy, so I tried red stripes on a white base… and I don’t know if it was the stamping polish or just poor technique (most likely that!) but my stripes were smudged and they looked hairy. Not happy. So, I decided to try fireworks instead… and got carried away. LOL
There are a couple amazing fireworks images on the MoYou London Festive plate 05. I was so happy that I bought this! I used Mundo de Unas polish in “Reddish”, “Iris” and “Silver” for the fireworks over a base of “Purity” by Zoya (2 coats). I finished it off with a few silver star studs.
I think in the end, it all came together and works pretty well. What do you think?
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.
