Hello again, lovely readers!
I did some plaid nails to celebrate the first official airing of “Outlander” on August 9, 2014 on Starz. The show is based on the books by Diana Gabaldon and if you haven’t read them, you HAVE TO! Calling them “epic” would be an understatement. I’m obsessed with the books and I am SO EXCITED for this show!!!
Aaaanyway, about this mani… The plaid background is all polish. I have a hard time painting details like the straight lines with polish. It just dries so fast. Under normal circumstances, this is a good thing! But when I’m trying to do small details, it gets a little goopy, hence the messiness… Sorry. :-/ I used a few polishes from Essie’s new Fall line ( “Take It Outside”, “Fall In Line”, “Perfect Coverup” as well as the classic “Chinchilly”). I then topped the plaid with OPI Matte Top Coat. The accent thistle & crown is hand painted with acrylic paint and topped with HK Girl top coat by Glisten & Glow to make it really shine. Everything was painted using my Pure Color Glamour 1 brush from Stylish Nail Art Shop.
Here is a closer look at the thistle & crown on my accent nail. When I posted this on Instagram back in August a lot of people thought it was a charm that I had glued to my nail. I was so flattered that so many of you thought it was a charm, but as you can see up close, it is hand painted.
And here is a nod to all of the hard-core Outlander fans out there… Pocket Jamie!
I hope you like these nails as much as I do. Now, go read the books… or watch the show… or both!
Thanks for reading!
