Dramatic Dry Brush / Tape Mani
Hello lovely readers! This is yet another “catch-up” post of something that’s been on Instagram for a week or so. (only one more, I promise!)
Dry Brush is a technique I have been really excited to try and I’m so glad I did. I love how the background turned out. I used “Breakfast on Fifth” by Polish My Life as my base, then after it was mostly dry I lightly dragged an almost dry polish brush across my nails in different colors. I’m not exactly sure which polishes I used, but I think a couple of them were “Green Bikini” and “Blue Beach” by Polish My Life as well as “I’m Never Amberrassed” by OPI (one of the Sheer Tints). I think there was a light yellow Julep polish in there too, but I can’t remember. I added topcoat and thought it was pretty, but I wanted to add some drama!
Enter the tape mani part of this creation. I taped off the larger triangles and filled them in with Zoya “Trixie”. After that dried, I taped off the smaller triangle and filled it in with Zoya “Black Swan”. I absolutely LOVE that black. It is truly the blackest black polish I own. It’s nearly a one coater. I wish I could stock up on this one, but it was part of a special trio for Fashion Week last year, and a limited release. (PLEASE, Zoya, make more of this AMAZING black polish! I’ll buy 10.)
I thought these had a little edge to them… almost like some crazy dragon talons from ‘Maleficent’. They look even more fierce up close.
I will definitely be using the dry brush technique again soon. I love the effect. Hope you like these as much as I do!
